Discussion with Anthropologist Sylvain Lazarus: “Chronologies of the Present”

We are honored to welcome the renowned anthropologist Sylvain Lazarus for an exceptional discussion around his latest book, “Chronologies of the Present” (La Fabrique, 2022). This event will take place on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at the UM6P campus in Benguerir.

This gathering offers a unique opportunity to dive into Lazarus’s intellectual journey as a pioneer of the Anthropology of Naming and founder of a scientific tradition intersecting politics and social struggles. The event will be moderated by Montassir Sakhi, anthropologist-in-residence at IAS, who will guide the conversation with Lazarus.

From his activism during May ’68 to the founding of the Union of Marxist-Leninist Communists of France (UCFML), from the University of Vincennes to the Political Organization, as well as his fieldwork in factories across China, Poland, France, and Germany—Sylvain Lazarus will share his experiences and insights on the contemporary “political subject.”
