About the Program

Frontier Research in Theoretical & ExperimentalPhysics

The IAS Physics program welcomes research across a broad spectrum of fundamental and applied physics. Particular interest is given to optical sciences and photonics, optoelectronics, plasmonics, quantum optics, quantum mechanics, particle physics, and astrophysics, as well as related and emerging areas of physics.

Residents are encouraged to explore questions at the frontier of human knowledge, from the smallest quantum scales to the largest cosmological structures. The IAS environment fosters creative thinking, enabling physicists to pursue bold, independent research while benefiting from cross-disciplinary dialogue.

Through joint seminars with UM6P schools, informal exchanges with resident mathematicians and engineers, and access to world-class facilities, IAS physicists have every opportunity to produce high-impact work.
