The Mathematics program at IAS encourages contributions in mathematical modelling of physical phenomena and research that advances theoretical physics, as well as interdisciplinary mathematical approaches connected to the hard sciences.
Residents are free to pursue any mathematical topic they are passionate about, while being encouraged to explore collaborative opportunities with UM6P faculty, physicists, and computational scientists. The Institute provides a stimulating environment where pure and applied mathematics coexist and inform each other.
IAS mathematicians benefit from a rich intellectual community, regular seminars, and access to UM6P’s broader research infrastructure — creating fertile ground for breakthroughs at the intersection of mathematics, physics, and computation.
