About this Event

On May 29, 2025, the Institute for Advanced Studies (IAS) at UM6P hosted the inaugural conference of Dr. Teresa M. Cappiali, IAS Resident, at the Laayoune Room, Ryad Center. The event brought together a diverse audience of researchers, educators, and students to explore new paradigms in education at the intersection of pedagogy, technology, and social transformation.

At the core of the conference was the presentation of Transformative-Emancipatory Pedagogy (TEP)—a framework developed by Dr. Cappiali that advocates for inclusive, human-centered learning environments. TEP seeks to move beyond traditional educational models by empowering learners as active agents of change, fostering critical thinking, social responsibility, and collective engagement.

Dr. Cappiali also introduced early-stage AI pilot studies conducted at UM6P, demonstrating how emerging technologies can support more adaptive, personalized, and equitable learning experiences. These initiatives reflect a broader ambition to align technological innovation with pedagogical values rooted in inclusion and emancipation.

Expanding the discussion beyond the institutional context, the conference highlighted ongoing international collaborations focused on peace education across Morocco and the African continent. These initiatives aim to create educational spaces that not only transmit knowledge but also contribute to dialogue, intercultural understanding, and long-term societal resilience.

The session concluded with an engaging exchange with participants, addressing the challenges and opportunities of integrating AI into education while preserving its human and social dimensions.

Through this inaugural conference, IAS reaffirms its role as a platform for forward-thinking research and dialogue, supporting innovative approaches that reimagine education in response to contemporary global challenges.
