Exploring Innovation: 3D Printing Workshop
About this Event
On May 6, 2025, the Institute for Advanced Studies (IAS) at UM6P hosted an interactive 3D Printing Workshop led by Dr. Hanane Yaagoubi, IAS Resident Researcher. The session brought together students, researchers, and innovation enthusiasts for an immersive introduction to the world of additive manufacturing.
Designed as a hands-on experience, the workshop combined theoretical foundations with practical application, allowing participants to engage directly with 3D printing technologies. Attendees were introduced to key concepts such as material selection, digital modeling, and the layer-by-layer fabrication process that defines additive manufacturing.
Throughout the session, Dr. Yaagoubi highlighted the transformative potential of 3D printing across multiple sectors. From healthcare—where customized prosthetics and biomedical devices are reshaping patient care—to architecture and product design, additive manufacturing is enabling new levels of precision, flexibility, and sustainability.
Participants had the opportunity to experiment with the technology, gaining firsthand insight into how digital designs are translated into physical objects. This experiential approach fostered a deeper understanding of both the opportunities and limitations of current 3D printing techniques.
Beyond technical skills, the workshop encouraged reflection on the broader implications of additive manufacturing, particularly its role in local production, resource optimization, and innovation ecosystems.
Through initiatives like this workshop, IAS continues to promote experiential learning and interdisciplinary exploration, equipping participants with the tools and perspectives needed to engage with emerging technologies and their impact on society.
