Biography

Leticia F. Cugliandolo is an Argentine theoretical physicist internationally recognized for her work in statistical physics, particularly in the study of complex systems, glassy dynamics, and non-equilibrium physics.

She was born in Argentina and studied physics at the University of Buenos Aires, where she obtained her undergraduate degree. She later completed her PhD in physics in 1992 at the same university, working on problems in statistical mechanics and disordered systems.

After her doctorate, Cugliandolo pursued research positions in several leading international institutions. She worked as a postdoctoral researcher in Europe and the United States and became a key contributor to the development of theoretical approaches to spin glasses, aging phenomena, and out-of-equilibrium dynamics.

She is currently a Research Director at the CNRS and a professor at Sorbonne Université, where she is affiliated with the Laboratoire de Physique Théorique et Hautes Énergies (LPTHE). Her research explores the behavior of complex physical systems far from equilibrium, with applications ranging from condensed matter physics to interdisciplinary fields such as biology and information theory.

Throughout her career, Leticia Cugliandolo has received numerous distinctions for her scientific contributions. She is a member of several international scientific academies, including the Argentine Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences, and she has been widely recognized for advancing the understanding of non-equilibrium statistical mechanics and complex dynamical systems.
