About this Event

The Institute for Advanced Studies (IAS) – UM6P hosted the inaugural conference of its scientific resident Prof. Hasnaa Chennaoui Aoudjehane, as part of the Mercredis de l’IAS seminar series.

Morocco has emerged as one of the world’s most significant regions for meteorite discoveries, offering rare materials that provide key insights into the origins and evolution of the Solar System. In this inaugural lecture, Prof. Chennaoui Aoudjehane explored the scientific, cultural, and educational value of Moroccan meteorites, highlighting their contribution to planetary science at both national and international levels.

Held at Salle Laâyoune on the UM6P Campus Benguerir, the seminar addressed the full trajectory of meteorite research—from field recovery and classification to laboratory analysis and interpretation. The discussion also emphasized broader themes such as planetary processes, geoheritage preservation, and the role of education in fostering scientific curiosity and awareness.

This inaugural session marked a strong beginning to Prof. Chennaoui Aoudjehane’s residency at the IAS, opening meaningful dialogue on the intersection of science, heritage, and public engagement. The seminar was met with strong interest and thoughtful discussion, reaffirming the IAS’s commitment to advancing interdisciplinary research and knowledge dissemination.
